If you’re like me (and every other millennial out there) you probably LOVE Youtube. The site went from nonexistent to the number one place to search for a video on the Web in just a few years. What is even more surprising about Youtube, however, is the number of stars the site has been able to produce and how much cash they rake in from it.

One of my favorite Youtube stars is Jenn Marbles. She, her boyfriend, her cute dogs and goofy personality all make a great Youtube channel to subscribe to. I’ve been watching her videos for years! While I was watching one of her videos the other day (I tune in regularly), I started wondering, “what is Jenna Marbles’ net worth?”

You may have never heard of Jenna Marbles (born Jenna Mourey) before and that’s okay. Take a second and look her up on Youtube. She’s hilarious! Marbles’ Youtube channel has basically been a place for people to go for humorous narratives and even pranks (she taped herself calling out at places she didn’t work and it was great). Jenna, unlike many others, literally blew up overnight.

Her career was kickstarted (like more are being started every day) with a Youtube video. The first Jenna Marbles video titled, “How To Trick People Into Thinking You’re Good Looking” was released in 2010. Within the first week of it being online, it was viewed 5.3 million times.

Now Marbles uploads a new video every Wednesday or Thursday and has more than 17 million subscribers and 2.2 billion video views. And, like many other Youtube stars, she isn’t restricting her talents to the computer screen.

In fact, the 30-year-old Youtuber hosts a weekly pop countdown on Sirus XM 1 called “Youtube 15.” Marbles have also appeared in a number of television movies, television shows and recently released her own brand of dog toys called Kermie and Mr. Marbles, which is making her a bit of cash.  Additionally, Marbles is an executive producer on the set of “Maximum Ride,” a film based on a novel by James Patterson.

You’ve probably not heard much about her since her 1994 conspiracy conviction, but the recent release of “I, Tonya” has brought her to media attention once again.  How has it impacted Tonya Harding’s net worth and will she earn any cash sharing her story for the recent film?

Tonya Harding, as mentioned above, was once a world-renowned figure skater. She is a  two-time Skate America Champion. During her skating career, she won the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and placed second at the World Championships in 1991. Among these great accolades, she was also the first American woman to complete a triple axel jump in competition.

The famed figure skater started her career sometime in the 1980s. She placed sixth at the 1986 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and fifth in 1987 and 1988. Finally, in 1989, she reached the podium at third place.

In the early 90s, Harding was seemingly on top of the world. She was competing and winning, regularly. As you probably already know, not everything went well in Harding’s career. In 1994, her ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, conspired with Shawn Eckhart and Shane Stant to break the leg of Harding’s competitor, Nancy Kerrigan.

Harding plead guilty to hindering the prosecution after the attack and was banned from the U.S. Figure Skating Association for life. Her life seemingly crumbled in the eye of the public but not many people found themselves wondering what happened to Harding after all these years.

That is until a movie was produced about Harding’s life. Harding is undoubtedly a fantastic American athlete that was punished because of her former husband’s actions. Currently, it is estimated that Tonya Harding’s net worth sits around $30,000.

Compared to other professional athletes, that isn’t much. It is important to keep in mind that Harding was disgraced for many years. No one was calling her about endorsement deals, commercials, and certainly not any skating competitions. Her skating career was effectively over.

To make matters worse, in 1994 her former husband is alleged to have leaked stills from a homemade sex tape containing footage of Harding and Gillooly.  The tape was purchased by Penthouse Magazine, with Harding and Giloolly using the same agent to negotiate an equal share of the undisclosed sale price (per the Seattle Times).

Tonya’s later career has several twists and turns.  She worked in music and started a second career as a professional boxer.

 

Eventually, she was approached about having a film made about her life.

When it comes to how much Harding will make from the movie, there aren’t any definite figures. Of course, she won’t make any cash from box office sales or DVD sales but she has gained a ton of publicity, which is likely to turn into work down the road.

Although Tonya Harding’s net worth is only sitting at about $30,000, don’t be surprised if you continue to see her name and her wealth rise. She won’t be skating but she will be speaking!
